Water main breaks in Lac La Biche: water restored, 94 Ave reopen to traffic

UPDATE (5:15 pm, April 21)

94 Avenue in the hamlet of Lac La Biche, which was previously closed to allow for water break repairs, has reopened to traffic. 102 Street will be reopened soon.

Thank you again for your patience as we completed these important repairs.

UPDATE (2:30 pm, April 21)

Water services are being restored, and we ask residents to run cold water taps if they notice discolouration. As always, the discolouration is temporary, and the water is still safe to use and drink.

The road in the affected area will still be closed for a few more hours to allow our crews time to backfill the excavated area and clean up.

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation as we complete this important work.

ORIGINAL POST (11:40 pm, April 20)
There are currently two water breaks in the hamlet of Lac La Biche. One is on 94 Avenue, just east of 102 Street (east of the mosque). The other is on 102 Street just south of 94 Avenue (again, east of the mosque). Staff have isolated the leaks and shut off water to a number of homes in the area. Residents affected by the water outage have already been notified via door-knocking.

Staff are currently conducting repairs, and we do not yet have an ETA on when water services will be restored.

Highway 36 (94 Avenue) will be closed to traffic once equipment begins working between 99 Avenue and 100 Street (where Highway 36 turns south). A detour will be set up. Please use caution in the area, and obey all signage.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete this important work.

Here are details on the map below.
  • The red stars show where the breaks are located.
  • The red lines are the houses without water.
  • The orange line shows the traffic detour route.
