Access to Information

All records within the custody or control of Lac La Biche County are subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). While FOIP grants an individual the right to access records, it also prohibits us from disclosing certain types of information such as personal and business details and information that is covered by legal privilege. We can only disclose information in accordance with the FOIP Act.

Requesting Information

Lac La Biche County strives to make general information available through active dissemination (more commonly known as proactive disclosure) and routine disclosure channels.

Please click here to view the Routine Disclosure and Active Dissemination Procedure. Unless stated otherwise, there is a $20 filing fee per Routine Disclosure Request. Once you complete the Routine Disclosure Form, you can file it with the appropriate department as outlined in Schedule B of the Procedure.

Additional fees may be applied, in accordance with the County's Schedule of Fees Bylaw and amendments thereto.

Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Request

If you would like information that is not routinely available, you may submit a FOIP Request by:

  1. Completing an Access Request Form or sending a written request pursuant to the FOIP Act.
  2. Paying the $25 filing fee for general requests. The fee must be paid prior to your access request being processed. Note there is no filing fee for personal information requests, but you will be required to confirm your identity. If you would like to pay the filing fee by credit card, please complete the Credit Card Authorization Form, or you may pay in person or by cheque or money order.

Additional fees may be applied, in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Regulation. The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner has the authority to hear appeals pursuant to the FOIP Act.
