Fire restriction now in place for Lac La Biche County permitting area (June 29, 2021)

Post Date:06/04/2021 12:00 PM

Current fire restriction level: FIRE RESTRICTION

Due to rising fire hazard conditions, Lac La Biche County’s fire restriction has been expanded. Effective immediately, all burn permits (including those for burn barrels and incinerators) are suspended. No new fire permits will be issued at this time.

Small outdoor fires for cooking and warmth are still permitted on private lands. However, residents are asked to use extreme caution, and fully extinguish all flames after use.

To learn more, contact Lac La Biche County’s complaint line at 780-623-6767.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Permitting: Lac La Biche County and Alberta's Forest Protection Area

The County and the provincial government handle fire permitting and wildfire management in different areas. This is because most of our County falls within Alberta's Forest Protection Area. Click here to see a map of the County, showing who is responsible for which areas. If your property is in an area handled by the provincial authorities, you will need to contact Alberta Agriculture & Forestry about fire permits. Call (780) 623-5388 to contact the local branch.
