Our residents and community groups know how to have a good time, and they invite you to join in the fun. Events throughout the year celebrate our region’s unique character. Below is a list of major events that residents and visitors alike fall in love with and participate in year after year.
Canada Day – July 1, 2018: Canada’s birthday is celebrated at the Lac La Biche Mission with children’s activities, cultural entertainers and tours of the National Historic Site. Afterward, join us in McArthur Park for fireworks along the lakeshore.
Lakeland Country Fair – August 3-4, 2018: Alberta is cowboy country, and the two-night rodeo at the Lakeland Country Fair gives you a chance to watch regional competitors ride and race for bragging rights at Lakeland Agricom, just outside the hamlet of Lac La Biche. During the day, explore the local Farmers Market and listen to live music.
Plamondon Mud Bogs – July 6-8, 2018: Racing becomes a dirty business – literally – on the Plamondon Festival Centre grounds. The daytime mud races are followed by evening entertainment and dancing, and on-site camping is available.
Pow Wow Days & Fish Derby – July 12-15, 2018: Our community’s signature event starts with a parade through downtown Lac La Biche, followed by a weekend full of activities for the whole family. A fish derby encourages anglers young and old to try their luck, while a midway, multicultural entertainment and other attractions keep you on your toes.
Winter Festival of Speed – February 24-25, 2018: This ice racing spectacle calls thrill-seekers to put the pedal to the metal on the frozen surface of Lac La Biche Lake. Drivers from across Western Canada come to race cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles and more. Click here to see a gallery of Winter Festival of Speed pictures.
