Opioid Overdoses in Lac La Biche County
Lac La Biche County Peace Officers and the Fire Services department have been responding to a growing number of calls related to opioid overdoes.
Opioids are part of the growing addiction epidemic that communities face across Canada, and include the commonly-abused drug known as fentanyl.
As fentanyl becomes more prevalent in our community, both users and first responders are at risk. Emergency personnel (or a member of the public providing first aid) could be exposed to the drug through skin contact. This can cause a life-threatening reaction in first responders.
Lac La Biche County Peace Officers wish to remind the public that if they see possible illegal narcotics or paraphernalia to immediately contact the local RCMP detachment at 780-623-4380. Do not touch any drug-related items.
For more information, or for complaints that require a Peace Officer, please contact the County’s complaint line at 780-623-6767.
