We’d like to thank the more than 75% of residents who have been complying with the Community Standards Bylaw and regularly clearing snow from their sidewalks. Because this winter is forecasted to be a classic Canadian winter with plenty of wind and snow, we’d like to remind residents, especially in the hamlets, that sidewalks bordering your property should be cleared within 24 hours of a snowfall.
Excess snow should be piled on your property, and not on roads or public land. This maintenance helps keep walkways accessible to all, especially seniors and those with mobility issues.
Keep in mind that strong winds can create snow drifts that pile atop previously cleared sidewalks—sidewalks may require maintenance between snowfalls.
If you have any questions about sidewalk clearing or the Community Standards Bylaw, contact Protective Services at 780-623-6767. Thank you for your cooperation.
