Lac La Biche Peace Officers providing education on child seats
Lac La Biche County Peace Officers want to remind motorists, parents, and caregivers to check their child seats and ensure that their children are buckled in properly this week. Statistics show that child seats reduce the risk of injury and fatality during a motor vehicle collision. Our officers will be out in the community this week at Light of Christ School, Ecole St. Catherine School and at Britton’s Your Independent Grocers providing parents with education and assistance in checking their child seats, along with educational resources.
Our officers will be available at the following locations to work with parents on checking their setups:
- Tuesday November 21, 2017, 4 pm – 7 pm at Light of Christ Catholic School
- Wednesday November 22, 2017, 4 pm – 7 pm at Light of Christ Catholic School
Thursday November 23, 2017, 4 pm – 6:30 pm at Ecole St. Catherine School
Friday November 24, 2017, 1 pm – 3 pm at Britton's Your Independent Grocers
It is extremely important that parents check child seats on a regular basis, especially during the winter months, as cold temperatures cause the belts to loosen. Parents should also be mindful of bulky winter clothing that children typically wear, as it can also reduce the effectiveness of the internal harness systems in child seats.
